Update: There seems to be an indication that the latest release of FX Factory broke the audio mixer tool in FCP. Several folks have reported deleting FXF and the mixer functions again. It has been reported to Noise Industries.

Im having the same exact problems with no mismatched memory and the same CPU and AJA setup. Any follow up?

Michael, thanks for your response. I understand the Geometry padding setting, but I am currently looking at the Encoder screen of the Inspector and I see File Format …Extension…Video Settings (I checked here but there is only options for compression type and frame rate and key frames and data rate) …Audio settings and Streaming options where I can change paramenters. But I dont see a Video Format>Aspect Ratio option that can be changed…Can you tell me where it is located?

Not to be flip, but it would probably be wise to hire someone who
has many clues and have them configure it for you. Otherwise you
could bump into alot of disasters further down the road.

Not always the case. If I have stacked several clips tht need compositing (on a long timeline), I created a nest of JUST those clips (thus creating a sequence) and send it out to AE like greased lightning. I know the in-out-duations
and the clips are linked to the original QT media. I find this is a great way to get the best of both apps.

Thanks for the affirmation Shane and Walter!
Now if the economy would only chug back to life so my employer could purchase a Final Cut room to replace my old DS I would be able to utilize all this useful information I have been accruing by “working” every evening in my Final Cut room AT HOME (thanks to Maxx Digital).
I figured there’s no better way to hit the ground running then exploring and playing with a system at home. I never had this luxury with CMX and Avid systems!

Here is a slightly divurgant black and coding question. Is it possible to b & c a tape (ie from 58:4500 to 59:01:00). Then put the ETT in an
assemble mode so you can simultaneously lay the show down (starting with bars and tone at 59:00:00) to a raw tape?
I do this time saving work flow with the Avid DS and wonder if FCP can
do it as well?

Did you try the standard fixit technique for FCP which is trashing preferences and repairing persmissions? If not, Google to find out the relatively straight forward procedure.

Yes, I crossgraded from CS3 PC to CS3 Mac. I was guided through the various hurdles by a very helpful Adobe Sales person. All in all a good experience.

Do you have clients? Do you do short and long form projects? Do clients request that you edit in HD? Do clients at the end of a session want a copy of said long/short form to watch at home or the office? If so, “solid memory” is not part of the solution at this time and probably wont be for a while….
