Ah yes. AE 6. Thanks! I’ll have to see what I can dig up.
    Thanks for checking!

That’s alright. Some people don’t care about better options, what they want is what they want.

So here it is… OP didn’t say what OS or version of ME, this is for Mac.

    Macintosh HD/Users/User/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder/Whatever version you have/PresetCache.xml
    Edit to your heart’s content.

    Good Luck!

What Ann said is best. Keep the system presets – you never know when you might need one. Save presets with names of your own. They will show above the system presets in User Presets and Groups. Then you can group them into folders as you choose. They are then easy to find, easy to use.

    Good Luck!

Hope I don’t have typos in my post… stupid ads keep covering the box I’m typing in!

  • When you say ‘render’, do you mean a preview render on the timeline or a movie export?

    And let’s start simple…
Drag a clip to the new item icon (lower-right corner of the bin) and make a matching sequence.
Go to ‘Window’ file menu select ‘Workspace’ drop down and select ‘editing’
Then go to the same ‘Window’ file menu/’Workspace’ and select ‘Reset Current Workspace’
Now do you see any timeline image?

Read speeds should be similar. Write speeds may be slightly lower on RAID-6 because of the dual parity, but I have had excellent RAID-6 write performance with Areca. Last Areca card I had did very similar specs at RAID-5 and RAID-6. Other cards, such as Highpoint and Promise, not so much – can’t speak personally for ATTO, but I hear good things.

Why not just do a RAID-6? Less chance of URE problems on rebuild than RAID-5. Read/Write speeds shouldn’t be that much different, especially with Areca. Overall better use of same number of drives.
    My 2 cents.
    Good Luck!

The Proavio should be able to, but I’m with Alex, not the RocketRaid card. With the Areca mentioned you should be able to do a single stream uncompressed 2k. With the Areca card, you should be able to get 700-800 MB/s, so just look at your data rate for your footage (Guessing ~300 MB/s).

For simple file backup on Windows, I also like SyncToy from Microsoft. Makes retrieving single files even easier.

A short time ago, I had an update to my R4, which resulted in the software telling me it was overheating. Next update resolved it. What temp is it showing? And have you updated the software/firmware recently?

November 6, 2012 at 7:16 pm in reply to: New MacPro – 3 Video Cards to feed 8 monitors?

Thanks Phil! We had looked at TripleHeadToGo and it looks great to split one image, which may be an option to go. Looks like the Datapath x4 does the same thing. Just requires the video to be prebuilt with each section of video being rendered into one file.
It’s possible we may have to look into that. The Datapath looks good.

I don’t like that with the way we are currently looking, we would have to have small files (image size) and have them scaled up. That’s not ideal unless we were going from 720 to 1080, but I think the scaling will need to be more drastic.
We have a few options, not sure yet what may be affordable/feasible for us. May be fewer monitors at this point.
    Thanks!
    Todd
