Have you tried transcoding your footage to a different file format, like DNxHD or ProRes? Something that PPro may handle a little better. As far as previous edits showing up in render, delete your render files, then try your render again if that happens.

Biggest bottleneck? Storage. You are running your media off of a single 7200rpm hdd. At least that’s what it looks like to me. Test the speed of that drive. What is the data rate of your source footage? Leave some room for overhead.

You can link, group or nest. No way to automate what you want.

Alpha channels won’t work with projection. The area you have cut out will be black. The alpha channel will only work in apps that can utilize alpha channels, such as an NLE (PPro/FCP), or AE/PS.

What are you viewing it with if not PPro? QT will not show you the alpha, but you will see everything else used to premultiply. If you plan on projecting this, why not key over black and render flat – without the alpha? That will probably be your best bet.

Are you able to render to anything other than the MPEG-2? Say DNxHD or H264?

I tested VLC. I think I had issues moving a playlist from one computer , where I’d be compiling the playlist, to another one that would be doing the playback… I’ll have to check on it again. Definitely willing to pay for a solution that is solid and easy to use.

Did you try exporting, without sending it to Media Encoder Queue? It ties up PPRo, but I’ve had renders that didn’t work in AME, but worked from PPro export. And those renders from AME always errored in the same location too.

As Dave mentioned, I’ve seen this happen when frame rates don’t match.
