So I receive sourcematerial from my client, 1 mxf or mov with a number of shots concatenated.

I go trough the clip, adding edits to seperate the shots. So I park my blue bar on the first frame of a new shot, hit the add-edit-button.
And then it depends: sometime this works, other times the blue bar jumps back a frame, and adds the edit there.

Any idea how to avoid this?

As Dave mentioned, I’ve seen this happen when frame rates don’t match.

They do match… I just drop my videoclip onto the ‘make new sequence’ button to make sure that everything lines up nicely. The latest sourcefile that had this occuring was an MXF exported from Avid:

    MXF File details:
Wrapper type: MXF OP1a (type: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)
File generated by: AVID, TRMG (3.01)
    MPEG-2 422 Long-GOP

    I’m betting it’s the long-GOP thing, isn’t it?
