Good tips Mark! I’ve done similar to poorly lit green screen in the past. AE has much better tools for dealing with these sort of problems.

Did you do a preview render to see if there was noise that you can’t really notice in a still frame? Sounds like it could be low light noise that became visible when you boosted the levels. Some codecs, especially h264 don’t do low light well – at all. I’d be interested in seeing a before/after stills. Before all your keying and color correction, and after your render.

I can tell you from your settings, you don’t need “Use Maximum Render Quality” selected. Your source is 1080 rendering to 1080, leave that unchecked. The rest of your settings should be fine – you probably don’t need that high of bit rate. YouTube will recompress your video file. I don’t post a lot on YouTube, so others will have to help you with that. But a lot of people do complain about YT’s compression. If you need a better viewing experience, go with Vimeo, unless you have to have it on your YT channel.

I think I would skip the mess you got and simplify connections – i.Link out from camera. What Sony says here:

But you could be getting some kind of degradation causing the problems. I don’t know, I’m guessing. But you should be able to easily simplify the setup and not go through the A/D conversions.

I don’t know how Webex records or anything. But what you could try is take that video into Handbrake and transcode it to constant frame rate. I’m wondering if it has a variable frame rate from Webex. It’s possible you’re video and audio may not sync if that’s the case.

Got down to where it says “Start Here”.But, what is happening is your sequence is a different size from your source footage. So when you edit your source footage into that sequence, it will ask you if you want to change your sequence to match. That’s a good thing to edit at your source size/frame rate/etc. If you don’t want it to change your sequence, then don’t select to change, but if your sequence is 1920×1080 and you drop 4k footage on it, you will need to scale it.
But where is your final video going? You will want to edit to your final destination specs. Example: if going to broadcast, you will want 1920×1080 29.97 sequence settings.
If you want Premiere to make your sequence for you, just drag a source clip down to the lower right of the bin to the “New Item” icon and release. It will make a sequence from that source clip that matches that source clip.
Go through tutorials. Learn basics. Ask questions if you have them!

I’m running 2019 on Mojave on MacPro (Late2013). Had no issues with the upgrade. Although, with our Enterprise license, I’m on not the latest version of 2019 – apparently blocked from updating until they push it out… So I can’t say about the last 2(?) updates.

You may need to clarify a bit more. You shot at 1440×1080 with like a Panasonic or something that does non-square pixels at a lower bit rate? Or you edited at 1440×1080 square pixels for a 4×3 aspect?
Then what are your export settings? And are you wanting to keep that 4×3 aspect?
So, some more details about your footage, sequence, export and final destination might help – where is this video destined to run?
