When you import does it ask you about alpha settings? Did you open the file back into photoshop to make sure it does have alpha? You may not have your transparency set properly and it is set to use white bg as its matte.

I believe there is a preset text animation that does this somewhat that you can then take and tweak. Remember that you need to have a few different animators to do what you want, but it can be done. Check out the presets and experiment with them.

As a matter of experience do what ever you can on set. The “fix it in post” may and will give you problems. Why not shoot the scene twice, once with the DP light raking and then again without. That way if it doesn’t work in AE you have a safety net. The problem I see with doing it in AE is that you have depth and background inside the car to deal with, along with having to isolate travelling mattes to light the foreground actors, etc… Best to do it when shooting as suggested by your DP.

Have you tried saving your .ai file at a later format? Sometimes when I save the file as an Illustrator 8 file things are fine… depending on what you have in your file. Also, you may be referencing other imagery with the .ai file…

June 9, 2008 at 7:52 pm in reply to: client renegs on deal

True… true. The only problem is turning away the business to accommodate this client, who then renegs on the deal because they don’t want to pay the deposit, though they agreed to it already. So then the booked time that could have been given to the other clients is now open, no clients since they were turned away and went elsewhere… but my feelings are, and have never been, hurt. Though it is bloody hot up here!!!!

    Thanks for the insight!

    Cheers!

Thanks Todd! After a phone call discussing the situation with the client, I think they realized the error and miscommunication and we now have the project back.

And use your null objects as the rotating objects, linking each “panel” to their own null.

anyway you can post a screen shot of pre-render and a still render? my guess is that you are not rendering to rgb 0-255 in what ever codec you have chosen.
