    So my renders are not finishing, they stop at random times, anywhere between 1m 38s in, to 3m 50s in. After they fail whenever I try to do anything it says “After Effects is out of memory” I have a project due tomorrow and i really need help.

    I am working on an 8-core MacPro 16gigs of RAM, working with DV/DVCPro footage at 29.97fps……Quicktime 7.4.1 and i have meesed with my memory and cache settings

    Let me know if you need anymore info, and i thank you very much for the help

    you may need to use the secret preference (hold the shift key while selecting after effects>preferences>[any pref], then click the preference pulldown to select ‘secret’) to set force ae to purge ram at set intervals. set the ‘purge’ to happen prior to when you see the crash… so if your render crashes at frame 60, set the purge to happen at around 40-50 frames…

    yeah I have been a lurker for a long while and i used those posts as references.

    So Magic happened and everything is rendering fine now, I did not change anything or do anything different, I just hope this problem doesn’t happen again

    Thank you all for the help and advise, hopefully i can return the favor in the future.

    Your memory is making you crash because AE is locking up.
    Reset your Preferences->Memory and Cache
    Maximum Memory Usage at 120%
    Maximum RAM cache size 60%

    Disable disk cache
