The Stick Texture tag makes sure the texture “sticks” with the geometry in case you choose to deform it with bones or another deform tool.

    That’s true.

I had just finished adding a cape to an animated character right before I responded to the post, so I was probably influenced by that. 🙂

    In the Cloth tag:
    – Go to the Dresser tab, drag the flagpole into the Belt On field.
    – Go into Point mode, select the points of the flag mesh on the side that attaches to the flag pole.
    – Next to Belt Points click “Set”. The points should turn “yellow” indicating that they are now acting as a “belt”, meaning they are attached to those points.
    – Go to the Tag tab, and make sure Self Collision is turned on.
    – Click on Empty Cache.
    – Click on Calculate Cache. The simulation should now cache in, and play through.

If you want to make any changes before rendering, be sure to click Empty Cache before starting your changes.

Like Chris said, give the “Duck Race” tutorial a try. I went through it and became a lot more knowledgable because of it. The Quickstart has a few nice tutorials to get you started. But, remember, it’s not meant to be deeply comprehensive. After all, it’s just a quickstart. 🙂

Thanks so much for the car Xpresso technique. It’s a great tool. Is it coming in the June 2005 issue of 3DAttack?

I’m sorry to hear that, Arndt. I just looked up your book on Amazon.de and there were excellent reviews about your book. I would’ve been a customer. Oh well.

Yes, there are more Cinema 4D books coming out soon. It’s good to see that.
