Car following road
Posted by Simon Bronson on May 4, 2005 at 5:51 amHi there,
as a newbie to cinema 4d I just wanted to ask how I can animate a car travelling on a bumpy road (with many ups and downs) I have created, without hand animating it. Am I entering expression land here?
thanks in advance,
simon

May 4, 2005 at 12:48 pmYes, that’s going to require some hefty expressions or else the use of a plugin. It can be done fairly easily with Paul Everett’s Spline Projector plugin; I think it comes with an example of this. https://www.tools4d.com

May 4, 2005 at 2:31 pmI am still working on this.
Here is a car xpresso that drives the wheels alright. But it does not handle the collision (yet)

Take the “base car” xpresso. -

May 4, 2005 at 4:28 pmI have been fiddling around on the basecar and here is the result
https://www.base80.com/xpresso-files/BaseCar/basecar2/test-carSys0.4.gifIt does handle terrain but not completely (the whole car should make more rotations )
here is the file, follow the instructions written on the Nulls and set data in the UserData

May 5, 2005 at 2:59 amOf course this is a great forum. No doubt about it. But the car xpresso is my all time favorite development. I just love to work on this xpresso!
I have have say that the first serious implementation of this expresso will be free only for the 3d attack magazine or it will be on sale on my site. This thing takes a big part of my life and therefore a lot of my time. Have fun with this preliminary result and show us your results, please. -

May 5, 2005 at 2:55 pmThanks so much for the car Xpresso technique. It’s a great tool. Is it coming in the June 2005 issue of 3DAttack?

May 5, 2005 at 4:45 pmIt is a project I am working on for more than a year. And I will not finish it any time soon.
I distribute it via my site and update it once in while. For the June magazine I will do something but I don’t know what.
