Thank you, Pierre. I forgot the manual was inside the plugin’s folder itself. 🙂

Ahh. I see what the idea is. Yes, being able to re-render a scene where it just calculates the altered areas would be nice.

It also would be nice if C4D could have a render region that stayed active like in XSI, and each time you made a change in settings or camera angle it re-rendered the region. Or even like Maya’s, where you render to a viewer and it re-renders with each change as well.

Select the texture tag in the Object Manager. Go to the Illumination tab under the texture attributes and choose the 1024×1024 setting under the Texture Preview Size dropdown list.

As far as a “repeat last render” choice, as long as you don’t change the settings in the Render Settings dialog there’s no need for such a script. Simply re-render the scene. Or, if you have R9.5 you can save the Render Settings as a preset, enabling you to choose the preset from a drop down listing.

  • Maxon is very responsive. But, I must say as one who has used many other 3D apps I have found the point upgrades in C4D to be some of the best of any 3D app. From R8.5 to R9.0 was a massive upgrade with over 100 new changes/tools, etc. No other app I’ve seen can say that about any .5 upgrade.

I should mention that the DVD costs $49.99 plus $10 shipping. You certainly will not be able to find 15 hours of high quality training for such a price. I can tell you from personal experience that 3DKiwi’s training videos are of the highest quality available for Cinema 4D, and most any other app for that matter.

Enjoy. I hope you pick up a copy. I’m sure it will become a highly respected resource for training in the C4D community.

I especially recommend “www.c4dcafe.com” that Adam mentioned. They have over 70 free (Flash-based) video tutorials for download. If you’re looking to learn Bodypaint at some point, C4DCafe is about to release a DVD with 15 hours of training for Bodypaint. Which at $50.00 USD ($10 shipping) is a steal in my book.

Come on, ladies. Are we still comparing 2D with 3D programs?

Why doesn’t a bicycle have exhaust pipes? Because it’s a bicycle and not a motorcycle.

[Brodd Nesset] “c4d should try to mimic to functionality of what is undoubtly the industry spline drawing tool instead of re-invent the wheel so to speak.”

Why don’t bicycles come with steering wheels? Expecting a 3D program to behave like a 2D program sounds pretty unrealistic. Don’t let your pride get in the way of learning a new program. Cinema 4D isn’t reinventing the wheel, it’s simply operating as a 3D program. Because…it’s a 3D program.
