Thanks for the info Aaron. But I need to get a laptop that will work relatively soon, so I’m hoping somebody out there has an answer to my question. No time for buying, installing, returning, and buying again.

    Hi John,
I realize this is an old thread. I’m looking to buy a laptop that I’ll use with Vegas and Adobe CC. With Vegas 14 will this still be an issue if I get a Win10 laptop with a 4K display? Will all of the icons and text be tiny or have they since improved the scaling ability of the software? I was hoping that a higher resolution monitor would allow me to see focus better on the smaller screen of a laptop and possibly make it more tolerable to work on a single monitor. Am I better off going with a 1080 monitor paired with a second, external monitor?

    Thanks!

February 14, 2017 at 5:36 pm in reply to: unable to use Trapcode Mir plugin

    @Dave,
The plugin install procedure asked me which generation of CS I was installing for and CS6 was an option (which I used before) as well as CC 2017 (which I used this time). …so I assume it is made for these versions. Also, the plugins appear in the software, so doesn’t that mean it is compatible?

Another note: I’m running 3 monitors. Not sure if that would cause issues with my graphics card (Nvidia Quadro K2200).

Yes, I just did that. I’m still waiting for a response from them.

I had the same issue with the Avid codec as well as the Prores codec. As soon as I hit about 15 files on the timeline, they all went blank.

However, since Vegas 14, this might no longer be an issue. Possibly because Vegas 14 has quicktime natively, though I’m not sure. I think I tested it when I first got Vegas 14, and if I remember right, it’s no longer an issue. But I haven’t shot anything with the shogun for a while, so I’m a little uncertain. If you are able to test it out on 14, I would be interested to hear your results.

You probably already thought of this, but markers don’t suffice?

January 13, 2017 at 7:59 pm in reply to: AE CS6 crashing over and over

Thanks for the response Dave. I do have an older version of AE (11.0.0). I’ll look into upgrading, but at the moment, I’m just hoping to finish this project (unless you think an upgrade is necessary to solve the issue?).

I disabled continuously render on the Mir layer and no more crashing so far! However, it changes the whole landscape and lighting (I’ve rendered a mountain range and I’m trying to fly around it with the camera). Is there something else I can disable that would enable me to keep ‘continuously render’ enabled?

The “Hardware Accelerate Composition, Lyaer, and Footage Panels” box is unchecked. I’m new to AE and I’m not sure how to ‘disable hardware excelleration’ beyond that.
in “GPU Information”, for Ray-tracing, it says “GPU not available – incompatible device or display driver”. My current graphics card is the NVidia Quadro K2200 and I have recently started having some issues with it (might have something to do with me starting to use AE regularly?).

I tried increasing the Texture Memory, and it still crashed when continuous render was enabled on the Mir layer, though it seemed to take a little longer before crashing (could just be coincidence). It appears that continuous render cannot be disabled on text layers? The icon is grayed out on those layers.

One note, these crashes are occuring while scrubbing across the timeline, not while pushing out a render.

I appreciate you taking the time to help with this.

    Thanks,
    tim

    Chris,
Do you recommend the 1060 or 1070 over an NVidia K620 or M2000?

I’m using After Effects and Premiere CS6 (soon to move to CC) and Vegas Video in Windows 7.
My system is a Boxx i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz x4, 32 GB RAM. I kinda don’t want to sink too much money into this machine as it’s getting close to time for an upgrade, but I still want it to work well in the meantime.

    Thanks!

Correct, but nevermind. Not sure why, but after several restarts it finally appeared. Thanks for the response Graham. I appreciate it.

March 21, 2016 at 11:20 pm in reply to: creating regions in the trimmer?

Thanks for the reply. Am I going about this the wrong way? How would an experienced Premiere editor edit (for example) an interview? Would he/she create subclips from the best bytes and then drop those subclips on the timeline as needed? Sorry for the rookie questions.
