  • I think my problem may be solved! Not sure if this is more or less what you were saying Riccardo, but in search for the preference you mentioned, I went to Project Settings/Image Scaling/ and changed Resize filter to “Bilinear” and checked the box to “Override output scaling”, and I was able to render a clean output.

    Thanks Riccardo!

  • Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, the prerendered graphics out of AE were prores 4444 XQ with alpha and V210 10-bit YUV with alpha. I’ve also since tried DNxHR/DNxHD, DNxHR RGB 444 12-bit, and a png sequence. I’ve tried rendering the graphics out of AE in different color spaces (Rec.709 Gamma 2.4 and sRGB IEC61966-2.1). All of them have more or less the same result, with speckles around the edges of the graphics. Here’s an example:

One note is that when I render out of Davinci as 4K rather than HD, the speckles/artifacting are much less noticable, but still unacceptable. Hopefully that’s a clue.

Thanks Riccardo. I’ll try that for the titles. The edit page side note thing, it’s hard for me to imagine that being normal. If you’ve spent the time to bold/italicize/change fonts, etc, and then want to enlarge everything a bit, having to then redo all of the bold/italicize/etc. everything all over again would be undesirable, no?

That’s a good idea. But so if you wanted to use that title in a new project, how do you do it? Do you import that timeline into the new project or something?

  • And the Lightbox area is very thin, with no way to expand it? And there is some random text and a folder that is visible in a little divider line next to the Lightbox (see attached image). Is this just me? or is it like this for everyone with a second monitor?

  • Wow. Workspace customization should definitely be on Blackmagic’s to do list. This is kinda crazy.

  • Thanks! That helped a lot. But on the Color Page, is there a way to move my preview monitor to my second monitor? As of now, unless I’m willing to get rid of my clips and timeline windows my preview window is barely larger than a thumbnail. Aside from getting a third monitor dedicated to a video preview, is there any way to move any of the stuff on my left monitor to my right monitor to make better use of my workspace? I’ve attached an image of my current two monitor workspace.

Thanks for the response, but I guess the answer to all of my questions is “no you can’t do that in DaVinci”?

  • Do you have in/out points set on your timeline. Try clicking ALT+X to remove your in/out points on the timeline before pasting. It may just be pasting at the currently selected out point …which is a silly behavior in my opinion.

  • Thanks all! I ended up buying an RTX 4070 and Davinci is now working like a dream.

To answer the questions, I’m using a Dell Precision 7820 Tower running Windows 10Pro 64bit with Intel Xeon Gold 5220R CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2195Mhz, 24 Cores, 48 Logical Procs, 64GB ram.
