Hello, I just finished production on a feature and I’m considering doing the edit in Divinci resolve. I have 2 back ups but I want to select a Raid that is decent to work off of (Maybe 40 terabytes of footage). I will likely need a new mac also, but want a reliable, fast raid to 1. create a new backup and 2. have all the footage in one place. Any recommendations for a raid would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. -Matt

    Hey Matthew,

40TB of footage – what is the data throughput per second?
And, out of interest, what storage are you using for your back-ups (I expect that you keep them in separate locations?).

Depending on budget and where the project goes afterwards, the easiest may be to look at the BlackMagic solution:

As it sounds like you are starting over with a new system, you should consider getting a turnkey system solution with support.

    Hope that this helps?

After a lot of research I ended up going with this JBOD from Qnap and did a Raid 5 (kinda wish I’d done a raid 6):

Tim, I’m just curious because I have one of those, but i honestly was under the impression that it would not work as a stand alone device. It is listed as an expansion enclosure. Mine is used as Raid #4 in my Qnap universe, but i thought it needed the main QNAP brain to work at all.

Just curious if it is working for you as a stand alone device.
