  • Thanks all! I ended up buying an RTX 4070 and Davinci is now working like a dream.

To answer the questions, I’m using a Dell Precision 7820 Tower running Windows 10Pro 64bit with Intel Xeon Gold 5220R CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2195Mhz, 24 Cores, 48 Logical Procs, 64GB ram.

I love the Neat Video noise reduction plugin. However if the footage is captured too dark, at a certain point, detail just isn’t there to work with. You should definitely be working with the original footage out of the camera and hopefully you’ll find more detail preserved there. I’ve heard good things about Topaz’s upres’ing and I wonder if there are any new AI tools available yet to create detail where it was lost. good luck!

  • YES!! thank you Roman! That did it.

  • your link is broken, but if it’s the same post I found before, it says to do it exactly as I say ..but I can’t do what it says because those options are greyed out for me. ..I think because I don’t have a DVD burner connected to this computer.

  • Thanks for the response, but I think you may have misunderstood my issue. I’m trying to create an ISO file with DVD Architect. I don’t have a dvd burner. I always used to make ISO’s with DVD Architect, but now that I don’t have a burner, that screen seems to be grayed out.

?? You aren’t able to increase the size of the audio track in your trimmer? Move your mouse cursor to the top of the audio track in the trimmer (between the trimmer audio and trimmer video) until it turns into an up/down arrow icon, click, then drag up.

Hey creative cow people, why do I get an error message when I respond to forum posts?

Hi John. Expand the size of the audio track in the trimmer by positioning your cursor on the border between the audio track and the video, then click/dragging it up and see if that fixes it. When the audio track is too small in the trimmer, zooming doesn’t work on it.

I think if you’re using Slog 3, you’ll want to expose a little higher and use a lut that pulls things down as opposed to pulling them up. Slog 3 I believe is more for preserving details in the darks, whereas Slog 2 is more about preserving details in the brights.

Thanks to everyone for your help with this. It turns out it was my fault. After the last Windows update, I was logged in as Admin and not under my personal profile. This made it so I couldn’t see my install of Davinci (I’m still not very clear on how those things work). Prior to this, I had a friend who lost (at least temporarily) all of his projects after upgrading Davinci, so I thought that was what had happened to me and naturally I was a little freaked out.
