Thanks for the suggestions Marco, the drives will definitly be in a external enclosure, I have two towers with all the SCSI’s in now, which I can take one and use for the SATA drives, each tower holds nine drives. I’m looking at the Barracuda ST3400832AS, looks like they’re a little cheaper than the hitachi.

    How’s the Sonnet Tempo-X eSATA8?

I’d wait for the 500GB Seagate’s but it looks like I better build this ASAP.

Any controller better than another? How about drives? What about the 500GB Hitachi 7K500 7200RPM SATA 3.5 drives?

Who’s good and who’s not so good?

I’m running 14 160 SCSI Ultras, they’re getting old….I have to restart two or three times just to get them all running. YIKES! I’m backing them up to a 800 gig firewire drive now. Come Monday I have to make a decision and spend some cash.

    Appreciate any and all help,
    Tim

    Check out the 250GB OWC Mercury Elite-AL 800 Pro 7200RPM FireWire 800/400. $219.99 I use an 800gig and it’s been wonderful.

    Here’s a question I have not asked……

What if you have a timeline from Cinewave that has both BetaSP footage and DV footage, will you have to re-digitize or can the Kona just render what it needs?

    Thanks,
    Tim
I have yet to have time to change over the the Kona 2…..it’s still in the box just waiting on me.

Are the bugs fixed for use with FCP?

Has the upgrade price been set?

I bought the Tascam DM24. Seems a bit over kill, took some time to get to know the board…..alot of menus to wade through.

    Found it…..

“Yes working in the Engine will correct this; the problem is specific to using Red as a generator in FCP.
