Make Red Second, that’s what I’m using. Seems there are two Tim’s with this problem.

Maybe you can barrow a few people from Apple since they took our disks.

    Thanks,

It’s ashame that Apple required us to send back our disks to get the update. Now there’s no turning back.

Add Boris Red 3.0.3 to try, I’m getting the same result. Using a G5 Quad and Universal FCP 5.1. Need this fixed asap, I’m editing now. client is not too happy.

April 8, 2006 at 8:18 pm in reply to: Kona3 overmodulated audio -Help-

    Sorry, here’s more…..

This is coming from existing audio, like FCP’s tone, to aiff files that voice people have cut for me. The voice files have been copied from my CineWave system. Currently I’m using only BetaSP, so no capture from the deck just yet.

I’ve checked the Kona’s output gain and have tried changing from 20% to 70%, sure the volume changes but not the distortion. I’m starting to think it’s something on the Tascam DM-24.

And like you said Bob, the RCA output is fine.

    More testing tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Tim

OK, something else I just found. The Analog RCA’s out of the K3-Box sound fine.

April 6, 2006 at 12:34 am in reply to: Heads up on Silicon Image 3726 chips on Multiports

I saved $1000. I have 8 drives and already had the boxes, I just needed the multiports. Something soooo easy as to update the firmware became a real nightmare. No one was willing to give me the correct firmware, the place I purchased the multiports said they had the correct firmware already flashed on them. AAh, AAh, AAh, by running the flash program I was able to see that firmware 1.1888 was currently residing on my chips, it should have been 1.0114. I just today got in my SATA controller for my 1x PCIe slot on my PC so I updated the firmware and all is well.

It was all a big mess until Silicon Image posted the correct firmware late last week. There’s no need to worry now since it’s up there. I’ll shut up.

  • But in this price range, do you think we will (could) see anything better? I guess only time will tell.

I know you talk about intercutting with the Varicam, but what if you’re only using the HVX200….will the client or viewer say, “hey that doesn’t look as good as it could”. I guess what I’m driving at is, if this was going to be your only camera, is it good enough.

    Walter,

You say the universal upgrade is for people with the PCIe machines, I can’t find out what it’s going to improve…or fix? Can you fill us in?

    Thanks,

I guess what I’m looking for is trails that sparkle and fade off behind a logo.
