Kona3 overmodulated audio -Help-

OK, something else I just found. The Analog RCA’s out of the K3-Box sound fine.

you are not describing your problem properly, so you are panic’ed. Is this existing audio, or do you get the distortion when you digitize into the Kona ? Are you using SDI embedded audio, or AES audio ? What is the source VTR? If it is a VTR, why are you going thru your mixer – why not just take the SDI or HDSDI out of the VTR, and go directly into the Kona 3 using the embedded audio. do this, and monitor off the RCA outputs (which I bet sound clean). Then monitor thru your Tascam AES inputs – does it distort here ?

Without more details, no one can help you.

Sorry, here’s more…..

This is coming from existing audio, like FCP’s tone, to aiff files that voice people have cut for me. The voice files have been copied from my CineWave system. Currently I’m using only BetaSP, so no capture from the deck just yet.

I’ve checked the Kona’s output gain and have tried changing from 20% to 70%, sure the volume changes but not the distortion. I’m starting to think it’s something on the Tascam DM-24.

And like you said Bob, the RCA output is fine.

More testing tomorrow.

Well to make a long story short, the Tascam DM-24’s clock was set on 44.1 not 48. I changed it but must not have stored it. I stored it this time and all’s fine. What an audio board, menu after menu after menu. (not that I’m complaining).
