I have this happen from time to time. I don’t think it’s the waveform per se as I run the test displays “4 up” in a reference monitor on one of my 17″ displays full-time and I only have the issue from tie to time.

It would beg the question what has changed on the problem system…

Is there anything you can think of? …even a crash of some other software? …something that may even seem like it has absolutely nothing to do with video software?

The two systems are absolutely identical? No utility applications that may have updated on one system and not on the other?

We could be looking at something very obscure…

Are these clips that FCP has already re-wrapped?

PPro imports the MXF P2 camera files as 4X mono.

The Audio gain crash seems to be unique to audio that has been re-configured…mono as stereo…stereo as split mono…etc.

At the moment the ability to re-configure audio track structure…as nice as it is…is rendered relatively moot by this bug as audio gain is one of those things that is a staple of most edits for most people who aren’t pre- or post-mixing in a DAW setting.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

The Tiffen filters SHOULD exist in the Media Core folders for both AE and PPro to see them…are they in the proper place?

These extensions can be confusing… just an “.mpeg” designation could mean anything.

There must be more to the file specification than just that…

…or in real time using an AJA KiPro recorder and an SDI I/O card.

Apple has attached the ability to encode ProRes to FCP itself.

I know Boris Continuum Complete has a “smoother” effect that is quite effective…

I don’t know of a good way to track this unless you can use the tonal range definition in one of the color correctors in PPro to isolate that area and reduce the contrast.

Yes…there isn’t a “workaround”…the settings are simply integrated into PPro’s playback settings.

You can access them from the widget in the Program Panel…that will bring up the settings for the Kona card.

Yes…it appears that MPEG1 has been set adrift on its flaming funeral barge as far as the Adobe Media Encoder is concerned.

I also had many uses for MPEG1 and loved its universal package of compatible mediocrity…

However, I have found that Windows Media Files do run at least as well as MPEG1 in Power Point (this is assuming you can say that any video really “runs well” in Power Point with a serious look on your face…).

I’m sure there are likely shareware apps out there that will still create MPEG1 files…or I think Grass Valley ProCoder might.
