I’m trying out Premiere Pro and have come across a problem with the AJA Kona 3 interface. I do have the latest drivers. If I choose an Aja 1080 29.97 or 60i project, I have no issues in seeing my footage playing on my client monitor.
If I create a 23.98 project, I see digital garbage on my client monitor. My client monitor clearly does not handle 23.98, but in FCP, the AJA does what an Aja is designed to do (amongst other things), it converts my 23.98 footage to 29.97 for my monitoring. There are no adjustable settings in the PP Player. If I change the setting in the AJA control panel, PP switches it back. Unlike FCP, where I can choose the output frame size and rate, PP always makes the output match the sequence. Essentially, it overrides what for us is the AJAs primary function.

This is kind of a deal killer for me. Are there workarounds or new software on the way?

    Hi Larry,

We own the other model, the Xena, but you should be able to adjust the settings in Premiere. That should come up under playback settings.

    Yes…there isn’t a “workaround”…the settings are simply integrated into PPro’s playback settings.

You can access them from the widget in the Program Panel…that will bring up the settings for the Kona card.
