I work with Newtek’s VT[4.5] on a daily basis. May be sort of overkill, but it has full animation capabilities with alpha output. Also comes with Lightwave 3D, a capable NLE, and a boatload more. I use it just for the After Effects framebuffer. You may want to check out their site (www.newtek.com) or contact their staff to see if it would be a good match.

Yep, it’s worth another post. Anyone rendering AE comps for an Avid should have these codecs on their boxes. The Avid editors will thank you endlessly, as the imports are about 10x faster with these codecs.

Dean’s stuff is pretty cool. I’ve downloaded a bunch of his work and subscribed to his monthly service. One of the best investments I’ve ever made.

I believe they contain the same content. (The 6.5 tapes/DVDs contain applicable 6.0 content in addition to the “what’s new in 6.5” content.) If you’ve got the 6.0 content, just buy the “What’s New…” DVDs. If you don’t have any of the DVDs, buying either one gets you the exact same content. Hope that makes sense.

I’ve used these DVDs a ton–they’ve paid for themselves many, many times over.

I haven’t heard of those companies, but as with Dave’s post, I highly recommend Total Training and the Meyers’ books. Can’t go wrong with those. Brand new, the Total Training DVDs can seem to be pricey, but for us, they were worth every penny. More than paid for themselves over the last little while. Excellent stuff on there. Maybe you can find those on eBay?

You may also want to check out Dean Velez’ content at http://www.theanvel.com I believe. He’s got a pretty simple AE project (among MILLIONS of other things that come with your subscription) that does just this. I think there are a few freebies there, too. One of the best investments I’ve ever made.
