For the 5D, your budget is too low. The Small HD is excellent. JAG35 has a solution https://blog.jag35.com/new/products/jag35-monitor/

But the JAG does not offer professional options, peaking….etc. If you ever attend a professional trade-show all the major monitor players have their gear on display to review and play with.

Simple Rule of thumb for gear. “Trust No One” (lol)

The 5D and the FS100 are very compatible. We’ve used them together as A-Cam and B-Cam for interviews. You can find a ton of videos on vimeo that have used both cams.

Live a little, but TEST before you go on your shoot.

1. Shoot in camera with the Cine-Style- I’ve shot about 50 projects this year with Cine Style. Grading is easy in Vegas….
2. You can grade very nicely in Sony Vegas Pro
3. The built in Canon Presets don’t have the latitude-

Hi guys,

So you are correct. I can edit a project under 5 min on my laptop with one or two corrections, and it plays fine…. Once I get into longer HDSLR footage, (my 15 min edit) the issue with slow frames manifests. I’ll look into the upgrade.

1. What laptop is a good solution to handle DSLR and 4k playback
2. Is Nvidia the proffered GPU board for Sony Vegas Pro

The noise they are adding back in is to emulate “Film Grain”- ACT of Valor was shot on mostly 75% DSLR’s and is amazing to see on the BIG screen.
