I found this video for tweaking underexposed DSLR footage.

Hi Ryan,

1. Test this out BEFORE you commit.
2. You can purchase a good point and shoot camera that has video capability for under $300 – 720P 30 fps- Check out Best Buy etc.
3. Up rezzing your video will NOT make it look better.
4. Do you have a Camera you can borrow that shoots DV with XLR inputs?
5. Do you have an Iphone 5? Several films have been shot with Iphones as of late….

Likewise, check the line/mic setting on the Zoom H4n. Just did a shoot with a Rode NtG3 and was able to record gorgeous sound to the H4n.

1. Do you have another Audio cable to test?
2. Can you record clean sound direct into a Mic input on another camera system?
3. Check line/mic settings

What are you mic levels? I’ve used H4N for the last 3 years with no problems on interviews, docs, podcasts etc. Its a great tool for the price.

2. What brand of lavs are you using?

C100 & C300 do not produce a .mov (h264) file….

The Ikan guys were great at NAB. I was able to play with all their monitors and get a sense of what worked… You really need to get in a store and check these out and compare!

Also check out SMALL HD. Awesome company with very cool set of monitors.

For the 5D, your budget is too low. The Small HD is excellent. JAG35 has a solution https://blog.jag35.com/new/products/jag35-monitor/

But the JAG does not offer professional options, peaking….etc. If you ever attend a professional trade-show all the major monitor players have their gear on display to review and play with.

Simple Rule of thumb for gear. “Trust No One” (lol)
