So presumably its all good? Ive always been under the impression they were essentially for broadcast terms, otherwise they wouldn’t have supplied them… (be a bit unfair to give you loops you then have to pay extra for).

Im not certain if that carries across to the sort of ‘pre made’ demo track things but I’d assume so. If anyone else can provide better clarification that’d be great!

I can’t remember the specifics of H364, but if I remember rightly its colour space is typically 4:2:0- its a pretty awful codec for retaining things like color accuracy. However there are ways of encoding to higher profile versions such as 4:2:2 but I cant remember them… :s

Cool well no one replied, but an update in case anyone else randomly sees this:

I tried resetting disk perms, even created a new user, reinstalled iLife and various bits of software using Pacifist- I eventually made it al work, but regretfully ended up doing it by doing a clean install using another copy of Lion. I didn’t even restore using Time Machine just in case it was a library file somewhere- I ended up having to manually copy everything from my Time Machine disk.

Anyway, no longer an issue for me.

Late response- Ive had no issues so far with FCP7 in Lion.

Incidentally no- FCPX WAS built for Lion, and I dont think the issues youve been reading about are more than possibly small glitches because its in first release stages. However what most professionals would call an ‘issue’ is the fact the FCPX is pretty awful in terms of what it lacks….. but there are debates all over the net about that 😀

Just a quick bit of help, I spoke to an Apple Store ‘Genius’ today, and whilst Im aware they’re not actually privy to much more information than the public, the seemed pretty sure even 10.6.9 won’t yield an iCloud update. And looking at Apple’s cruddy attitude at the moment, I’d say he’s probably right.

Just a comment on this- it drives me mental when clients have that, its like “you can’t work with video and have an attitude of ‘oh yeah, please just send us a yousendit of 50mb for an HD 3 hour clip’ OR ‘please keep it less than 100MB because we don’t have space’ etc. Some people need to wake up to 2011.

Anyway yeah, 200Kbps would come out quite blocky for that sort of footage- the data simply isnt there. I would suggest negotiating a better option with the client 🙂 (and telling them if they want video work done they need to step up a few years!) …sorry, ranting again… 😀

I think I understand you- you basically need a white background to fill theepty space around the crop you have-

What I would try is adding a lot of feather to your crop, then just putting in a white background (a jpeg) behind it (on the video track below it)- that way, even if the colour isnt perfectly matched, the feathering of the crop will mean it all blends in quite nicely. in theory. Without seeing what you have I can’t tell you what will work 🙂

I would sync the mic first, that way it will all be there when you start moving bits around and cutting bits off- just make sure every time you cut a clip and move it you keep the off camera audio in sync!

A better alternative if your budget permits would perhaps be pluraleyes: https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html

Great bit of software syncs audio for you- great if you have lots of clips!

Ah, right- sorry totally forgot to say- for various reasons plugging it into the router isnt a particularly great option- i did sorta already know that you’re supposed to plug it (or indeed any NAS) into a router 😀 Just wondering if there’s a way round this.

OK, to further the question into even more complicated realms: Our internet comes to us from a different room, though ethernet ports in the walls. We DO however have a spare router lying around which we used to use for our wireless network, but no longer need it. Is it possible to somehow pug in the Sharespace into the router and access it from all the macs, whilst still taking the internet from the original source? (So I dunno- almost like having 2 networks or something? One wireless for the Sharespace and one ethernet (which is already there) for the internet?)
