I had a similar experience earlier today actually- believe it or not sometimes it helps to literally restart everything (computer and tape deck alike). Make sure the settings on the deck are correct too obviously, but yes if all fails you can use the camera- not idealthough cos it marginally decreases ur cameras longevity as it wears through the tape heads faster 🙂

Michael is correct, and to clarify further, the scratch drive is simply the hard drive you are importing (capturing) ur material onto. Ideally this shouldn’t be ur Macintosh HD because it’s a less safe way to do things and is marginally slower as well hence why an external HD is so useful, assuming it doesn’t corrupt. DON’T buy a cheap one or it WILL die, go for a reputable brand like western dgital or lacie 🙂

Hmmm that definitely sounds
like ur hard drives rather than the mac… I normally recomment western digital- try have some cons but on the whole have always worked out a reliable option to me!

Ps I OBVIOUSLY don’t have a manual, otherwise I would have looked. Please excuse my rudeness but it appears as ifthe reply to my original question was both unhelpful and provocatively sarcastic which didn’t achieve anything….. Unless I’m mistaken and have misinterpreted in which case I apologise.

Does it show up in disk utility? Have you tried restarting the mac? Could do a pram reset (google it) and a disk utility permissions repair of ur macintosh HD then restart and try once more? If not perhpas see if you can access another computer and try it on that :s

Oh right yeah I didn’t think of that, especially as to look in the manual do you not hve to own a manual? Or am I mistaken?
