Now with WMM, if i do that, then delete the original 20 minute file (frog.mpg), then when I go back into WMM to play it it says can not find source file.If I do this in vegas then delete the source file (frog.mpg), then will it search for the source file? If you save it (FILE-SAVE), you just save the project and you don’t create a new file. So you have to render (FILE-RENDER) to create a new file. Only then you can delete the original file.
And in WMM, it works exactly the same…Theo

It is easy to do this within Vegas. But how to do this before importing the file into Vegas??? Ofcourse you could use WMM to do this before importing into Vegas. Just render the part you want to keep. But why not just doing it in Vegas?

You can set the white balance with the sony color corrector fx.
Add this color corrector fx to your event.
Use the left pipet under the right color wheel to select a part of the event that is supposed to be white. It will become white. If you are not satisfied with the result, just repeat…Theo

I’m a bit confused about your answer. Do you want to make short MPEG files? Or do you want to make the events on your timeline shorter? Do you know that there is a difference between an event in a project and your original footage?

Do you have the generated media on the timeline?
Sometimes a pop-up screen falls off the screen. If this is the case:
Right click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen and select PROPERTIES
Activate the AUTOHIDE option and try to drag the media popup window back onto the screenTheo

The gradient wipe can be transferred from V9 to V8 easily. Just copy the vidpcore.dll file from the vegas 9 Video Plug-ins folder into the vegas 8 Video plug-ins folder, replacing the existing vidpcore.dll file. (just to be sure, I would always first backup the original file…)
About the new effects (glint, soft-focus etc), they can not be transfered to Vegas 8. However, if you need them only for a short time, you can download the trial version for Vegas 8 from their original website:
