    To use a still image in a transition, just add the gradient wipe transition (only present in Vegas pro 9, although there is a trich to get it working in Vegas 8). This transition allows you to use your own image as basis for the transition.

    When you need more controll over the kinetics of the transition, you can also use the pixelan spicemaster plugin.

    If you mean what I think that you mean, then you can do this with the Vegas Production Assistant.

    If you want to apply an FX to the whole event, you can switch off the sync cursor button in the video event fx window

    Your video-track just disappaered by itself? Did you try Ctrl Z?

    Did you try already the backup file that Vegas creates automaticly?

    Vegas always creates backup files (unless you inactivated this option). Just try to open the backup file. You will find it in the same folder as the original veg file. However you will have to rename so that the extention will be .veg

    Just activate ripple edit (the button in the toolbar or Ctrl L) and it will work how you want it to work

    Do you mean a shortcut to go to the beginning or end of an event on the timeline?

    Ctrl + Alt + arrow left or right

    1: What is your output? DVD? Blueray? PC file? etc

    2: Contrast can be adjusted with a combination of the sony levelks fx and the sony colorcurves fx.

    You can use the free proxy stream script to convert your AVCHD files temporaly to editable files, which will be replaced again by the original AVCHD files when you start rendering.
