That is possible. But you can also make it in Vegas using Generated media (e.g. black and white gradient).

No. Both middle and bottom clips should be in alpha mode, but only the middle track should be set to CHILD, not the lowest event.

Yes: download the free lagarith codec, render your PI project as avi file with the lagarith codec (select to include alpha channel) and import this rendered file into your Vegas project.

I think that there are many answers possible. But I would first apply the Sony Levels, followed by the Sony Color Curves.
Make sure that you have the Histogram Videoscope on when you adjust the Levels. Both FX work in a similar way as they do in e.g. Photohop or AE.Theo

Do you mean that you want to rejoin two segments of a clip that you have split previously? And it is to late for Ctrl Z?
Turn off the ripple edit and delete one of the events. Then you extend the other one by dragging the ends till the gap is filled.

Normally the pitch is NOT raising when you speed up the audio (squeeze the event, unlike an audio cassette tape that is speeded up). Unless you select the LOCK TO STRETCH option in the properties tab.

When you drag with Ctrl pressed from one side of the audio event to make it smaller (or larger), the video event will follow. If you change the lenth of the audio event in the PROPERTIES tab, the video event will not folow and you will have to adjust by hand.

Normally the audio will keep the pitch if you increase or decrease the pitch. But you can also adjust things to your need.
Just increase the speed of your audio event. Context (right) click on the audio event and select PROPERTIES.
In the tab AUDIO EVENT you will see CLASSIC selected for timestretch/pitch shift method.
For PITCH CHANGE you can select LOCK TO STRETCH if you do not want to keep the pitch. If you do want to keep the pitch, you can choose STRETCH ATTRIBUTESTheo
