Make your ‘tiny portion of video’ – actually just drop your video on the time line. Drag the ends together until you have your ‘tiny portion of video’. Then do a simple copy and paste. Place your curser over the video and highlight it, copy it, then move your curser to the last of the video and paste. Keep doing this for as many stutters as you want. You don’t have to render anything.

I think we are still not clear on what you are looking for.
When you capture DV, if you use VidCap and firewire you will have either one clip if scene detection is off or a number of clips if scene detection is on (and you paused the cam frequently during taping)These should show up in your Project media bin. Whether they are thumbnails or just listings depends on the setting you have made. They show up in the “filmstrip” (which I assume is the timeline since Vegas does not have a filmstrip) when you drag them from the project media bin to the timeline. (Among other ways)

With CBR the two pass option really does no good, in fact the two pass option grays out if you choose CBR.

With VBR the two pass option causes the program to look at the project twice. First to see where it can most advantageously change bit rates and the second to actually do the render. A single pass VBR just makes an uneducated guess. But of course the downside is the 2 pass takes longer.

November 24, 2009 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Rendering twice in MPEG-2 and AC3

When your edited project is ready chose file>render as:
Choose “save as type” Main Concept MPEG2:
Use ‘template’ DVD Archetect NTSC Video Stream:
No audio will be rendered and the ‘custom button’ should be available at this point.

Choose the ‘custom’ button and then click on the video tab and set your desired bit rate. Anything under 70 minutes I would recommend CBR 8,000,000.

Then render. This will give you the video file.
Do ‘render as’ again and this time choose ‘Dolby Digital AC3’:
Choose ‘custom’ and make any changes.

Make sure that the names that you give the MPEG file and the AC3 file are the same except for the suffix and save them in the same folder.

When you open DVDA drag the MPEG file to the workspace. The AC3 file will follow automatically.

    Hope this helps.

  • I followed the directions on that video and could not get it to work (with 9Pro). I have done it before following the directions in Ed Troxels newsletters( https://www.jetdv.com/vegas/forum/index.php), but its a little more complicated than this video shows. Look for Color Pass.

Curious? Did you use a BR burner or a standard burner?

You probably don’t want to spend on another app but it would be much less work iif you got something like the very reasonably priced Bluff Titler. Many of the examples are kind of cheesy but you can do some really great titling with it also.

You might also try the noise reduction function in Audacity, a free sound program.

This question seems to come up frequently. I do not think there is a template or script for making it easy (as there is in some other NLE) but it can be done. The first way that comes to mind is using a mask and keyframing.

Thanks for the reply Alan. No problem I fall within those parameters. Just need to know if the procedure is to download the program again and use the same activation number I have from before?
