Well, I got it to work-I think.
First I found tghat if I played the files in Real Player, they would play. So I figured must be something wrong with WMP. Reinstalled WMP10 and it still would not work. Then installed WMP11 (beta) and low and behold I had sound agaiin. Cannot figure out what happened. -

Here is a link to a short 6 min project I did entirely with Vegas. May give you some ideas or may be too simple.

Go to the key frame for the effect you have created, right click and mark it hold

Actually the alt/D/1 works better. You doon’t lose the preferences!

Hold control + shift while opening Vegas. Will lose any other changes yoou made.

You should still read the newsletter, but just for clarity sake:
You should have the PIP video (still etc) on the track(track 1)above your regular (or background) video(track 2). Then use track motion on track 1 to size and place the PIP. Vegas reads from top down. Whatever is on track 1 is seen over track 2. When you resize track 1 wherever there is space on track 1 then track 2 shows through. -
I do not have/tried Sound Forge but have used Audacity (a free sound editing program) to remove noise quite successfully. As everyone else has said though, a little at a time.

Have you tried using a program like End it All to stop most all background programs. Its free and works really well.
