Edwards newsletters are wonderful! You will learn a lot from them. But quick and dirty:
You want to use cropping and track motion.
As an example, place car A on track 1 and place car B on track 2. Line the clips up so they are at the same entry point into a corner (or whatever you are comparing)under the curser on the time line. You can then use track motion (icon in the track header) to reduce the size of each track so that both will fit on the same screen. However they will now be right on top of each other and you will only be able to see the track 1 car. You then take and move the track 2 picture to the left (again with track motion) and will see it emerge out from under the track 1 picture. Move the track 2 to the left side of the screen and likewise move the track 1 to the right side of the screen. You now have basically a PiP with one 0n the left and one on the right. Hope this helps. OK, I think I misunderstood whta you were trying to do. If you got the globe from JumpBacks you are not using a 3D object, you are using a 2D picture of the globe. And apparently you are not looking to try and get the text to actually circle the globe in 3D space. You are trying to have the text come in from the left side, enlarge as it gets in front of the globe (center) and then exit to the right decreasing in size as it does. Is that about it?

I would have to bet that the other program was not a NLE (as Vegas is) but some sort of special effect program.
I do not believe you can build 3D objects (like your globe) in Vegas. It was not meant for that. You can work in 3D space but with 2D objects – I think.
That said it would probably be pretty easy to do what you want to do in Bluff Titler (a very affordable program) and then bring it into Vegas. -

AS stated by the others it is possible via the firewire. However what I found was that once you add an Fx to s scene it defaults to the computer and does not preview on the TV. This is kind of self defeating as it would be nice to see what the changes would look like (ala the split screen on the computer preview) on the TV without having to render the scene (or more likely part of the scene).

Also, if you truly want a ‘linear’ zoom and not one that speeds up at the beginning and slows at the end you need to set the smoothness at 0 not 100.

Alright computer gurus, how do you determine if hyperthreading is turned on or off. Where is the menu switch and how do you get to it?

You can ‘split’the clip by placing your curser at the beginning of the section you want zoomed and push the S key. Then do the same at the end of the section. You will have split your event into 3 events. And as stated it is sometimes easier to work with a shoter segment.

Once you get your first “A” word positioned as per the above suggestion P&C/Track motion then copy and paste for each succeeding word. You will ahve to change the lettering but the positioning will remain.
