Does Vegas take advantage of hyperthreading? I’m ordering a new machine and unsure whether to have hyperthreading turned on or off.

    thanks,

Yes, the rendering engine certainly does.

Alright computer gurus, how do you determine if hyperthreading is turned on or off. Where is the menu switch and how do you get to it?

    Usually in the BIOS settings

Be sure to get a “dual core” processor rather than just
one with “hyperthreading”. The Intel processors prior to the
dual core versions had ‘hyperthreading’ but that was more of a
buzz word than something useful. Had a very low improvment
of performance. Now the dual-core, esp. the Conroe ones
(like my new e6600) makes a big difference.
