I’m not kidding, I really appreciate the time and effort that some of you put into answering sometimes really off the wall questions. That may be what this is but I would really like to know:
What is the difference between astudio monitor LCD and a LCD ‘television’ besides that a monitor may not have a tuner or speaakers. Can a “TV” be used interchageably with a studio monitor. Along that same line, for viewing your editing on a monitor NTSC can you use LCD or should it be good old CRT? This is for the checking of your efforts o see how they would look to the client. Colors, overscan etc.
    TIA
    Terry

Low-cost LCD monitors will not match the color gamut of a CRT. In an LCD display, white depends on the backlight, the contrast depends on the viewing angle, and black is an illusion. On top of that, you can’t calibrate an LCD.

Sony makes a studio-quality LCD monitor, but it costs $6,000.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that the manufacturers of glass (picture tubes) are going out of business as the world turns more toward LCD and plazma displays.
