  • help creating moving text and video effect with Vegas 6

    Good morning,

I’m trying to create a simple effect with Vegas that I just do not see how to do it. I have an animation of a globe in the background and I would like to create text and pictures to come from the back and circle around to the front from the left, stay there for 5 seconds then circle around to the right as it grows smaller and diappears.

I’ve created this in another program in 5 to 10 minutes and that program has crashed and now I need to redo it in Vegas and I just don’t get it (after spending hours trying to figure it out).

To view what I’m trying to do go to:

Thanks!!! for your help and guidance. James

I’ve created this in another program in 5 to 10 minutes

I would have to bet that the other program was not a NLE (as Vegas is) but some sort of special effect program.
I do not believe you can build 3D objects (like your globe) in Vegas. It was not meant for that. You can work in 3D space but with 2D objects – I think.
That said it would probably be pretty easy to do what you want to do in Bluff Titler (a very affordable program) and then bring it into Vegas.

    Dear Terry,

I was not clear. The effect of the globe I’ve created with JumpBack. The challenge has been to create the text and the video coming on the screen and off the screen. And I did create the effect for the text and the moving video in a NLE called DPS Velocity in about 10 minutes.

I’ve now spent another 3 hours trying to figure it out in Sony….

    Thanks for your help, James

OK, I think I misunderstood whta you were trying to do. If you got the globe from JumpBacks you are not using a 3D object, you are using a 2D picture of the globe. And apparently you are not looking to try and get the text to actually circle the globe in 3D space. You are trying to have the text come in from the left side, enlarge as it gets in front of the globe (center) and then exit to the right decreasing in size as it does. Is that about it?

    Yes for the text.

And the same thing for a video clip with a box around it.

There has to be a simple way to do it…. Thanks, James

Use 3D Track Motion and keyframes.
