I use the 2011 iMac with a Promise Pegasus RAID daily and I’ve had no problems doing 4K R3D onlines. I need to drop the quality down to 1/2 though.

Well how much time and paint skills do you have? There’s no magic bullet for that. It’s a bit too erratic. The horrible image stabilization doesn’t help.

Good quality video takes a lot of space and if you lower the bitrate it will get worse. That is something you have to deal with.

Are you scaling the layer or upping the zoom level in the viewer?

Those insane bit depths are pretty much only for post production or mastering. Broadcast and web is video is 8-bits so you still need to bring it down when you are making your deliverables.

There’s a simple solution for this: do not use Xvid in Premiere. You might get it to play but it isn’t officially supported.

Where are you exporting to and in what format? I’ve had the AME baa at me if I try to export high bitrate stuff to a drive that can’t keep up with it eg. a network drive.

What kind of images are you using at what size?

You are viewing the comp at a huge zoom level, zoom out a bit.

I don’t see where it’s grayed out. Open the file settings in the render queue and choose JPEG under the format drop down menu or drag the preset from the preset list you have open on your images.
