Absolutely. Pan & Zoom is loading the entire still into RAM. Avid FX renders out when you go back to the timeline so the sequence is only pointing to a rendered media file.

How are you determining it is darker? What are you monitoring on?
You need to have a thorough understanding of RGB values vs. 601.
You can export either one out of Avid, and they make a big difference.

Select your sequence and select “Batch import” from one of the pulldown menus. (Not sure which one, it is automatic to me.)
Then select “offline clips” (which is the default). Then you will get a dialog box showing the clips needed to import. You can select the clips and point them to the original files. If you have all the original file sin one place, and you select all of the clips, once you point the first one the rest will link up automatically. Now just set your media drive and resolution and away you go.

Unfortunately, you can’t switch from 720 projects to SD. Once yo you 720 in Avid, you are landlocked there.

Yes, there is NO OMF in HD. The media is MXF and the method of moving around is AAF.

If the version of ProTools is new enough, you can export as AAF and avoid all the extra steps.

And this makes for great joke playing on other editors. Move a couple tracks around, then rename them so they show as if they are in the correct order.
Of course I would never do this to anyone else, even if they did pull practical stunts on me all the time……

That may be one of the best subject lines I’ve ever read. Instantly garners empathy from everyone who reads it.
As for the error message, that means you came up short on a clip, and it looks like it’s audio that is the culprit. decomposed motion effects can have this error also when you trim past the end, etc.
Sorry that doesn’t help much.
PS: My all time favorite Avid error message occurred in the Symphony Meridien systems. “A bad thing happened”
