Try rendering the video without the audio and render the audio as an AC3 file. Render them both into the same directory with the same name. This way DVDA doesn’t have to re-render the audio for the DVD.
Not sure why you’d be getting a pop but you might try this and see if you get better results.

You’re absolutely right Rob…Vegas should handle your project, even if put under a little bit of strain. And with your PC build there shouldn’t be much of a strain anyway. Hope you can figure out what’s happening here. Once you find the problem you will definitely be able to help someone else dodge such a headache as you have been experiencing…!

It definitely must have something to do with your computer system. I have been editing a high def video which is over an hour long shot on two cameras. One is a Sony Z7U and the other is a Sony HD handicam. Editing HD footage for about a week so far on Vegas 11 64 bit and have yet to run into any problems.
I fully understand your frustration and know how maddening it can be when something doesn’t work right. But…there are too many other people who edit with Vegas just fine without experiencing problems. Although I do understand that there are quite a few others having problems also.
One of the positive things about my situation is…my editing computer is dedicated to work and nothing else. It NEVER “sees” the internet…ever! If I need a specific driver or upgrade I download it on my “online” computer and transfer it with a flash drive.

November 6, 2011 at 5:47 am in reply to: Vegas 11 won’t open Vegas 8 files (both 32 bit versions)I too just recently upgraded from 8.0c to 11…both 32 and 64 bit running on my PC. So far I have not had any problems opening version 8.0 files EXCEPT for audio projects. I use the 64 bit version for video work but I have to use the 32 bit version for audio work because all of my 3rd party audio plugins are 32 bit. The 64 bit version will open the project fine….but a warning message pops up and states that the plugins did not load. If I open an audio project in the 32 bit version everything works great…other than the audio bus solo problem I posted about earlier.

John, When I purchased my first copy of Vegas it was the end of December of 2003. The advertisement that prompted my purchase stated that after the first of the year the price was going to double because Sony was in the process of purchasing Sonic Foundry. I paid $299 for Vegas 3.0 (still have the original disks, manual and box). This was on December 29, 2003. I figured that the advertisement was just a hype to get people to buy it. But sure enough…January 1st the price went to $599 at the same place I bought it (online). I remember thinking I bought it just in time! Mine was of course labeled Sonic Foundry. I guess they didn’t get things switched over to Sony labeling until later. The reason I know it was Dec. of 2003 is because my mom passed away earlier that year (May of 2003) and her memorial service tribute video is what prompted me to get into doing video work…and I bought Vegas later that year, and started out doing slide shows.
It’s interesting that a release of version 4 was still Sonic Foundry because the buyout was obviously already in the process according to the advertisement when I bought my first copy. Then again I’m sure it takes some time to get all the printing for literature, packaging, and what ever else set up and going.
Anyway…back to the subject at hand. I suppose I should contact Sony and report this bug with the audio bus soloing. I’ll look on their website and see if I can find a link to report it. Being able to solo buses is important to me when doing audio work.
Thanks again John for your response. Your knowledge and willingness to help others here in the forum is a valuable asset and I for one truly appreciate it…!

Well now this is strange. I just tried it here on my laptop and the solo buttons work on the bus tracks. But they didn’t today on my workstation in my studio. Will have to do more experimenting tomorrow.

Open up your “main show” in DVDA so it show on the timeline. Make sure the triangle marker is at the end of the file.
I ran into this a few days ago. My video played almost to the end but cut off about 10 seconds too quick. I checked and the triangle marker was not quite at the end of the file on the timeline.

One thing I would add is hard drive coolers. Even the cheap HD cooler fans make a world of difference in the temp of your hard drives. You can touch a HD after being on only a few minutes and it will burn your finger if you’re not careful. But if you have a HD cooler on it…you can touch them after hours of run time and they are cool to the touch.
I have hard drive coolers on all my hard drives. The cheap ones don’t last as long but you can buy them in bulk dirt cheap on Ebay if you don’t mind changing them out every now and then. More expensive ones last longer but the cheap ones cool just as good…I’ve used both.

October 28, 2011 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Problem with rendering to MainConcept in Sony Vegas Pro 11This also is from Sony’s website…
GPU-accelerated rendering with the MainConcept AVC format
GPU-accelerated rendering with the MainConcept AVC format can fail if your system has an NVIDIA CUDA driver but no NVIDIA CUDA-capable GPU is installed. This will result in an error dialog when as soon as you try to render with the MainConcept AVC format. To fix this, uninstall the NVIDIA CUDA driver, or Render using CPU Only in the Customize Render Dialogue.
