Ditto Steve…using Vegas for almost 3 years and not a single crash. Rock solid stable. I just rendered out a 1hr 9min video of old 8mm film which I had to do some color correction etc. and it took about 2 hours on a p4 2.8 ghz machine. Vegas was my first (and last) NLE. I wouldn’t think of switching to anything else. It does everything and more than I will ever need.

What if you burned it to DVD Gary and not to tape?

Sounds like you would need each photo on a seperate track and use track motion to zoom in-out and position where you want them.

BTW, this is an old home camcorder VCR tape…so no copyright infringments.

Gary, if a person has an NTSC VCR tape and wanted to send it to Germany to be viewed on a PAL system, can one capture the VCR tape into Vegas and render it as PAL? I figured since there are hardware and software packages for converting, then this probably isn’t possible within Vegas alone. Is this correct?

I think these cams are made for the consumers who want to just be able to record to the cam disk and play it back on their home DVD player. They are not made for editing. I have a friend that has one of these DVD based cameras and he says he hates it. Some must like them though since there is a market for them.

Thanks Jeremy, I did do a search and came up with quite a few hits but none of them being the one I had before. Wish I could remember where I got it from…it was the best one I have seen. You could input the length of video, type of audio (acm or pcm), extra content, ya da ya da. Then it would give you the min, ave, and max settings. Always seemed to be very accurate too. I’ll keep looking and if I find it I will be sure to post it.

You can pick up an ECHO MIA fairly cheap ($179 new, less used on Ebay) which has balanced 1/4″ inputs and outputs and have a pro level sound card. I have one in my computer and it sounds great. With most cheaper sound cards including integrated ones, you will usually see a low level signal on the record meters even when no signal is being input the the card. A better sound card will show nothing on the record meters until there is an actual signal present.
