This is easy to do. This once happened to me and I finally found ONE FRAME of video way down the timeline. Was impossible to see until I zoomed in quite a bit and searched for the problem.

You call add chapter marks anywhere you want and jump right to them from a single play DVD. It will auto start playing when inserted into the player, but all your chapter marks will be accessable with the “next” and “previous” buttons on your remote. So it actually is better than a VCR tape.

Actually once I saw that I had a defective one by previewing it…I inspected the burned surface. I could see a few “dark” spots in the area of the burned section. Some had a few spots, others only had one spot. But it they had this spot at all, they would not play right. So I made it a habit to take a look at the surface of every one I burn now. I just hold it under a light and take a quick look. And like I stated, this only happened with a few out of one spindle. Never had a problem before or since. -
I am still using the cheap ProDisc inkjet printable discs. I have used well over 1000 of them and only had maybe a dozen or so bad, and they were all out of one single spindle. Plus I caught the defective ones before they ever left the studio. And I agree with the burn speed. I always burn mine at the minimum speed, I burn at 2X if allowed…depending on which burner I’m using.

I have the Canopus AceDVio card (two of them) and it works great. Has both 4 pin and 6 pin firewire connectors, Svideo in/out and audio in/out via 1/8″ mini plug. I go Svideo out of this card right to my Panasonic 27″ tv/monitor. Works the same as the external boxes except you don’t have to hook up a firewire cable since it’s built in to the card. I don’t use the audio connectors since I have an Echo Mia with balanced in/out. I got my second one on Ebay just for a spare…brand new in the box for $175.

John, I’m not sure. I mainly use Corel with photos and text overlays. I really don’t do much graphic design as far as fountain fills etc. But I would imagine it is very possible to do what you need if you can just find out how. Corel is pretty powerful and should be able to do most anything Draw could do. I would think so anyway.

The numbers lock is one thing I forgot to mention. Glad you figured it out. And by the way, I also use CorelDraw 9. I do all my layouts for printing DVDs with it.

If I am not mistaken, Vegas does not output the actual encoded audio signal. It does however output the seperate channels via your sound card. I think the only way to test your actual encoded audio is to burn a DVD and play it back on your surround sound system via the digital in.

BTY most fonts have these characters but some do not. Just have to try them with whatever font you are using to see.
