  • Nope, no way to change project frame rate after it’s created. I guess too many things are linked to frame rate to be easily changeable. It’s same in Motion. Anyway you can of course create new project with different frame rate and copy-paste all the clips from another project to that. There might be some odd behavior but should work quite well with simple projects

Projects resolution you can change. Just go to projects properties and change it.

Wow, this is very interesting. Tried with simple cuts and seem to work!

  • You can make empty compound clip to event. Choose event, deselect all clips by clicking in empty area of browser then choose new compound clip. Then compound clips basically act like sequences in FCP7 with pros and cons still mostly unknown. Except that now we know we shouldn’t edit long-form projects as compound clips in events. I’ve been cutting all the time with compound clips in events without any problems but my projects are only 10-40 sec promos.

Yes it seems Compressor is not using rendered files from projects and is rendering everything from scratch and that’s why it takes so long…

    Hi Joseph,

are you using AJA or some other external video output? Premiere Pro gets much laggier and unresponsive with many things when you’re using video output. Without external video it runs very smoothly for me. Also coming from FCP7 + AJA land this external video lagging is big minus for me.

  • Well just put some audio clips on top of each other. Then move some clips in time with subframe accuracy and after that try to organize/move clips to different order. I mean vertical order. At least for me clips often get moved little bit. That’s not a big problem but little bit annoying still.

  • Thanks for replying Robbert-Jan!

Unfortunately even with copying same moving seems to happen at least for me. I can avoid it my zooming closer and then moving clips. Also sometimes if I just drag from little bit different location it seems that audio clips can be organized without moving happening. It seems to me as a bug. I put feedback to Apple.

  • No, I mean when I have all my audio clips below my primary storyline and just for organizational purposes I’d like to have some clips below some other autdio clips etc. And when I change their order (with shift pressed) they often move little bit. Under frame but something like 00.03 frames. Actually now I noticed it happens often but not always and if I zoom very close then I can arrange clips and those won’t move clips. It seems it happens if I have moved my audio clips in smaller than frame accuracy. It feels like bug.

    Great stuff Brendan!

One idea I’ve been having now when we have linking and rigs working is to build Fake 3D by linking camera parameters to Extrude filters parameters. I think it should be possible but it’s too much math for me to quickly solve that thing.

Benefit would be that it’d run very very fast.

  • And handling colors with stills is light years ahead FCP7. Final Cut Pro X can accurately read color profiles from stills (so no more gamma problems) and you can also manually override colorspace to (sRGB, Adobe RGB, NTSC, PAL, HD).
