All (that sounds easy)I want to do is copy a DVD to mov that I can drop onto the FCP TimeLine. It’s all legal. I have just started editing a monthly TV Show. See a sample, if this helps

All these independent film makers are sending in their DVD. I need to rip, make MOV. drop onto time line. What I have been doing is using VEGAS which will rip and bring into it’s timeline. Then I render mov. bring over to the mac drop it on the timeline, render etc. I know there is a way of cutting out the vegas process.
More information than you needed. I have only started with FCP and Mac 12 weeks ago. I am so slow at computers and I am on my own. IF I can figure this all out it would be great

I will download it and take a look. Hopefully it’s not to complicated. I am new to all this. I might come back for assistance. If it will rip to quicktime movie that would be awesome.

Suggesting using MPEG streamclip instead of Handbrake. I haven’t taken a look at it yet, but is it complicated? I am new to FCP and DVD Rippers.

It’s my understanding you can’t put an MPEG on Final Cut Pro timeline. Anytime I put an MPEG on the time line I might get video but not audio.

FCP 6.0.4 final out put – public access and everything is 4:3 stand def

yes I did check the manual and I did not understand at all the mastering and edit to tape process. All I would like to do is drop a countdown onto the timelne like you can with color bars.

one says best to convert to 48. AIF
I do not have i tunes or quicktime for converting. But I did render the wav through Vegas from wav to AIF? Would that be equal to converting through i tunes or quicktime. I don’t own a Mac, I am learning on someone elses, learning the hard way
