He is not the editor. He asked the question about sending HDmpeg PAL because that is all he has at this time. I was just putting it out there to see if there was a way to go from PAL to NTSC without a lot of drama. This TV Station is not putting out HD so that is mute.

Your not dense I’m not being clear enough.

I am being sent a DVD from Germany, below is what he wants to send.
Would you also accept a HDmpg in PAL format?
I need to drop the movie into a timeline for a TV Show, NTSC.

When filmakers send me their DVD’s I usually use MPEG streamclip to get a copy to drop into the time line. I don’t get sent
data disks that I can drag off. Everything I get is NTSC.

What I am trying to figure out is how to get DVD HDmpeg PAL (needs to be turned into NTSC I assume) for FCP for the show. I need to somehow copy a PAL into an NTSC format to bring into FCP time line.

I think the bottom line is, how to get PAL format into the time line for FCP.

How to convert PAL into a MOV. That is the question

Thanks, I will give it a try see if it makes a difference. It’s not that crisp after rendering and .mov. See if it makes a difference in the .mov clip.

I was told if the text in FCP is slightly muddy (and it is). I should go into quick time pro make sure the high quality video setting is checked within Quicktime pro.

Lucky that I had just started so nothing was really lost. I usually do a save almost after every change. Glad to be reminded of the importance of Apple S. I guess once I made an oops and balls starts circling it’s all over………….

Threshold was at 0, it was trying to analyze 0, duh moment. I ended up force quit went back started over. I was just curious if there was a way to end the spinning ball. On another note, I won’t forget to set the threshold every again

Have them all except for FCP express made easy. I have Final Cut Pro Studio 2, I learned a lot, and editing itself and color correction in FCP is no problem. I want to really learn Color, Soundtrack and motion. Thanks so much for the response. Working on it……………

Thanks for all the information. It would be great if there was a phone filter or cell phone sound filter, but since there isn’t. What was recommended that I will try is using the Band Pass Filter, there is a quicktip put out by Ripple Training called Playing Telephone with FCP Band Pass Filter. Will be giving it a try today.
