Sorry if I’m being dense here – but what are you trying to do exactly? You have a HD clip that you want to put into FCP? Why do you need a DVD?

I am being sent a DVD from Germany, below is what he wants to send.
Would you also accept a HDmpg in PAL format?
I need to drop the movie into a timeline for a TV Show, NTSC.When filmakers send me their DVD’s I usually use MPEG streamclip to get a copy to drop into the time line. I don’t get sent
data disks that I can drag off. Everything I get is NTSC.What I am trying to figure out is how to get DVD HDmpeg PAL (needs to be turned into NTSC I assume) for FCP for the show. I need to somehow copy a PAL into an NTSC format to bring into FCP time line.
I think the bottom line is, how to get PAL format into the time line for FCP.
How to convert PAL into a MOV. That is the question

December 15, 2008 at 9:58 pmIf he sends you a video DVD, it will no longer be HD. I’m often amazed at how many “filmmakers” don’t understand this.
If he sends you a DVD-ROM, then he can use whatever format he wants at whatever resolution he wants, so long as he can get it to fit on the DVD.

December 15, 2008 at 10:07 pmHe is not the editor. He asked the question about sending HDmpeg PAL because that is all he has at this time. I was just putting it out there to see if there was a way to go from PAL to NTSC without a lot of drama. This TV Station is not putting out HD so that is mute.

December 16, 2008 at 10:55 amI think this might be one of these cases where you just see what he sends you… If you do get a HD clip in m2v format on a data DVD then you should be able to use MPEG Streamclip to convert it.
