circling ball
Posted by Suzin Daly on December 6, 2008 at 3:09 pmOnce in a while I make a mistake and the multi colored ball circles forever in search of. Is there any way to stop the sucker without having to force quit? I try to wait until it sorts itself out, but sometimes it goes on forever…………..

December 6, 2008 at 3:48 pmI was in Soundtrack Pro 2, I was taking out clicks and pops I forgot to set the threshold. hit analyze. Just at that moment it was an oh darn. Threshold was at 0, it was trying to analyze 0, duh moment. I ended up force quit went back started over. I was just curious if there was a way to end the spinning ball. On another note, I won’t forget to set the threshold every again

If not that, maybe other things. 😉
In general, for all apps…
A great HABIT to get into is to hit “Apple-S” (Save) very, very, very often as you work.
Maybe after every, or every few, at least, change you make. This way, if you get a freeze, a crash, or other situation where you need to restart the app or the Mac, nearly all of your previous work will still be there when you open the app again.

December 6, 2008 at 4:38 pmLucky that I had just started so nothing was really lost. I usually do a save almost after every change. Glad to be reminded of the importance of Apple S. I guess once I made an oops and balls starts circling it’s all over………….

I always leave the Threshold setting at 0 – I take that to mean that all clicks/pops get flagged.
Quote from the manual:
The Clicks and Pops Threshold slider uses an algorithm to detect transients that are clicks or pops. Moving the slider to the right results in fewer clicks or pops being detected.
