Regarding your comment about the viewfinder “being cheap” – at NAB, a Panasonic guy at their booth told me that this was the case, and that if he bought the 500, he would spend the money to buy one of their “higher-end” viewfinders that come w/ their other cameras, such as the 2000 . . . I’m thinking about getting the 500 camera, and following through w/ this suggestion.

I shoot w/ the Firestore and you still need to have the Lastclip text file to read the P2 format . . . and also, I’ve heard that each Lastclip.txt file is NOT unique . . . it’s the same file, so you can copy one and place it in w/ your P2 formated file structure, making sure it’s in the right place.

Have you had any response from Focus on this issue?

  • Would be nice to have the color bar button outside on the camera body, so you would not have to open up the LCD.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I DID do a “Capture Now” . . . so Gary, are you saying that the Kona card is NOT doing the 3:2 pulldown? . . . so it’s just capturing 23.98 fps on the “fly”, . . . just capturing random frames on it’s “own” (sort of speak)? If so, I know it’s not the “way” to do a 3:2 pulldown, but it sure has a nice pleasing affect. Interesting . . . !

    Thanks,

I bought a Chroziel mattbox w/ rods for the HVX and like the little extra weight for smoothing handheld shots . . . the top french flag certainly comes in handy . . . also, I read that Rodney Charters, the DP for the TV show “24” tried shooting w/ the HVX (and other 1/3″chip cameras) on their set . . . and the response from Keifer Sutherland, was that it was difficult to “act” in front of such a small camera . . .so Rodney suggests to get a large mattebox to have “something” for the actors to look into . . . interesting . . .
