    Thanks, David!

Don’t know why I’m always so hesitant to run Disk Warrior… after all, that’s why I have it!

I’ll give it a try… after all, it sure beats still sitting here at 1 AM b/c I have to keep re-starting FCP every few scenes.

    Oh yes… sequence settings are:
    720 x 480
    29.97
    DV/DVCPRO – NTSC
    48 KHz
    32-bit floating point

and FYI: after crashing, if I try to export the same scene from the same (main, full project) sequence, it does not crash again on the same scene… however, it will crash on subsequent exports of other scenes.

    Thanks again for any help.

    Thanks everyone!

Between your knowledgeable responses… the links and referral that you’ve provided… and the info from my local captioning service, I think I’ve got it now.

I’m going to run a short test to check my workflow as well as the end result. If I run into problems, I’ll be back with more questions. 😉

In the meantime, HUGE thanks for all your combined efforts!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I’m sorry to admit that I’m still confused…

I’m assuming that because the desired result is “closed” captioning rather than “open” captioning, I really shouldn’t be able to “see” it unless I activate the “closed captioning” option on my TV, right?

    Am I over-thinking this?

    Thanks, Uli.

So… you feel the best (non-hardware) results would be gained by de-interlacing the footage prior to conforming in Cinema Tools, right? Then, the second choice would be the Nattress filters?

Out of curiosity, if using the Nattress filter, would you still de-interlace the footage prior to applying the filter?

    Thanks guys!

Aaron and Paul, you’ve confirmed what I had already guessed.
(Paul… I’ll keep your info on hand!)

… and Steve, I if I run into more scenes like this one, I’ll be tempted to take you up on your offer! 😉
