    Hi Patricia,

My client ended up pushing back the project (a series that he’s trying to sell to a network) until next year. (That pesky economy!)

When we do move forward, however, I’ll be following Walter’s workflow of actually out-sourcing this portion of the job to someone else. I’m essentially a 1-man (okay… in my case, a 1-woman) shop, so… from a time and money standpoint, it makes more sense to have someone else handle this aspect of the project.

Best of luck, and if you’re able, let us know what solution you employ.

    Cheers!

Steve — I thought that the “stretched” look to of the team celebrating was a “creative device” 😉
however, I agree, this is what I’d like to avoid for the purpose of this project.

Brian — also agreed that it’s a bad idea to try to distribute 16:9 when the entire project was shot 4:3. However, I still feel an obligation to the client to show them what the “best” possible outcome would be if they insist on 16:9.

So… if I’m going through Compressor for this, any idea what my settings need to be for the “best” result?

    Thanks to you both!

    Thanks Joel.

Trashing prefs is still a better option than having to do the very time consuming reinstall of all apps (as I admit to ignorance of the need (or at least “best practice) of performing a “clean install”.

Guess I’m a prime example of “live and learn”.

    Thanks, Jerry!

You’re right. I didn’t do a clean install. I’ll also admit to a bit of confusion.

After I erase my startup disk, won’t I need to reinstall all existing applications?

… and apologies for what I’m sure is a very basic question, but if I need to reinstall all apps, then how do I install the upgrade from Studio 1 to Studio 2? Don’t I need to have Studio 1 still installed?

Yes, I can recapture… but how do I go about deleting the nested sequence?

I can even delete the original sequence from the browser, but the “place marker” (I don’t know what else to call it) of the nested sequence that appears in the final timeline still remains.

Or… do you think that recapturing the original footage might allow me to then delete the nested clip in the timeline?

Beautiful day for Independence Grove. Wish I could say the same… about not being up this late editing, but you know me. 😉

Yep… all I’m doing is exporting a QT movie. Not self-contained.

I had been exporting using the “for Soundtrack” option… crashed every few scenes
… finally just exported using my standard QT movie settings… no crashes.

Love to know why it was crashing using “for Soundtrack”… guess I should just be happy that standard QT doesn’t seem to have this problem.

    Still working over here…

Tiffany is a playful sort! Personally, I’d welcome her return… she’s the fun one!

Tried re-starting… no difference. Good thought, though!
