Thanks Todd! I’ll give these a try and (hopefully) post success. 😉

Additional info: I also tried uninstalling AE (CS5) from my User level, and re-installing the entire CS5 Production Premium at the Admin level. I can now (at least for the moment) open After Effects without it crashing… but only at the Admin level. It still crashes if I try to open at the individual User level.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Kevin!
… wondering if I need to “uninstall” the drivers before doing a reinstall?

Hi Andy!
That makes perfect sense.
… I’m just irritated that I didn’t think of it myself. 😉
Huge thanks!

Hi Shane!
I actually thought (hoped) that they might just be “incomplete” clips due to size; however, the clips (both the ones that open and the ones that don’t) are between 200 – 300 MB.
Supposedly, they still have everything… and they say that their copy of the clips all open on their end. So… fingers crossed that they’ve actually checked all of the “missing” clips and that they can just transfer them onto a drive (again) for me to start plugging in to the missing spots on Monday.
Still… I can’t help but wonder what went wrong and how to prevent in the future.

Thanks Josh!
Although the clips have the QT icon, they do not show a preview in the finder. Checked the permissions — read / write no problem. Also tried stripping the extension… no luck.
Hoping the problem can be solved when we go back to the post house who did the original capture. Especially if it’s just a case of finalizing.
Irritating, but if that solves it, then at least I’m only 1 day behind and can still easily hit the deadline.
Huge thanks for the suggestions. If you have any other ideas, please let me know! 😉

November 13, 2009 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Importing full res from XDCAM Transfer into FCP???Hi Tamas,
Thanks for the response. I didn’t realize that if they showed up as proxies in the XDCAM Transfer viewer, they would still import full-res into FCP.
Now… back to work! ;-D

Did you try iStockPhoto (https://www.istockphoto.com/index.php) for affordable stock footage? Lots to choose from and super-affordable.
