Making a change to a project I delivered several months ago.

Although the project was fully rendered, several render files are now missing. Thought I could just re-render the project, but PROBLEM: when I try to re-render, I receive this error message:

    AE Effects Error:
    Unable to load plugin
    “BCC Glint X.b8”.
Do you wish to load plugin from another directory?

If I select yes, and direct it to library/application support/final cut pro system support/plugins/Boris Continum Complete 3.0 and then select BCC Glint X.b8 I still get the same error.

The only thing I can think of that has changed since I first delivered the project is my actual system. I recently upgraded from a G5 to an 8-core. However, BOTH of the drives that were in my old G5 are now installed in my octo and this plug-in is still where it belongs on my system (library/application support/final cut pro system support/plugins) but does not load under the generator menu.

I did come up with a workaround, but I want to know what caused this, how to fix it and how to prevent it from happening again.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!

You’ll want to check that the plugin is Intel compatible and if an Intel compatible update/version is available. If not then in such circumstances you may want to (temporarily) tell FCP to load using Rosetta (ie running in PPC emulation mode) so as to allow access to the pre-Intel compatible plugin code.

    Hi Andy!

    That makes perfect sense.

    … I’m just irritated that I didn’t think of it myself. 😉

    Huge thanks!

    Sue,

The issue is in fact not Intel compatible.

BCC compatibility with Intel Mac’s was added with the BCC 4.1 release…
