Thanks very much for that – you’ve saved me bags of time on this job. Much respect 🙂

That’s brilliant, thanks. Is it possible to specify the number of decimal places?

    Once again – thanks!

Thanks folks – I had guessed there was no way of doing this with out precomposing etc.

The actual graphic was an imported illustrator file so when I simply replaced it it didn’t work and I eventually just re-animated the mask.

    Thanks again!

I can’t post a pic due to a confidentiality agreement.

I’m struggling to sort this one, and am having all sorts of trouble with the illumination etc.

I think I can emulate the surface properties using an environment map, but the transparency is behaving very oddly – there is a tube in the middle of the plastic barrel that has a graphic on – appears black every time, whatever I do.

    Thanks for the reply though!

Oh well – another one for the wish list!

  • Thanks Arndt.

It does seem a tad weird that the camera and lights look so awful when you’re not working 1:1. Scaling the scene up is a right pain in the neck – also I am so poor at maths the measurements would become confusing (I always say I do pictures, not numbers).

    Don’t panic everybody – I’ve sorted it!

  • Aharon – thanks for this, just what I was after. I’ve got several illustrations to do in this style so I’m going to have a rethink based on your tutorials. Great stuff.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for this advice – I think I’ll go down the turbulent displace route as I want to preserve the custom strokes I’ve used on the illustration.

    Cheers!
