Well, for the last two years we have had 4 Lacie 500GB.
All of them have gone back to Lacie within 12 months.

We had owned a bunch of the great older models, the blue and silver, and
never thought that we would have SO MUCH trouble with the new “Big Disks”.

Nevertheless, the Tech Staff at Lacie has been extremely helpful, besides one Tech
Support Ladie, “DELVA JOHNSON”, who told me over the phone that “I DID NOT KNOW
WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT”. I suppose after running a post-production boutique
for over 4 years, I should know when a drive goes bad. Anyway, “Delva” told me I
was stupid for thinking that a Lacie drive would go bad and hung up the phone.

Luckily, a Tech Support guy was really helpful, and he did order to get the drives over
to fix them up. We lost time recapturing hours of video, but that just comes with the trade.

I really hope the call and email I left to Mr. Paul Yamashita (the Tech Support Boss) went through
and that the unhelpful/unprofessional Delva Johnson got written up.

  • You need to upgrade from “Final Cut Pro”.
    $699

And please, no complaints about it. We all are on the same boat.
I need to buy 4 upgrades.

I read that Shake 4 will have compatible output for the Kona2 and other cards.
I hope that since Kona2 and Io are made by AJA, and that Apple writes the code
for them, it will output as well.

Let’s talk to the AJA guys.

Yes, I know about Compressor 2.
The problem is that the project has to be finished even before it comes out.

I’ve been researching and the Kramer FC 4045 looks great, but I am not sure.

Should I even risk it with the Nattress plug-in?
After the NTSC to PAL conversion, I have to encode MPEG-2 audio & video for a PAL DVD.
    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks!!

    Thanks!
Do you have a specific Kramer model number that I can look into?

I talked to the AJA guys last week and they said that Kona2
    is compatible with FCP5.

They said that the Io will have to wait for the drivers; which they
    released yesterday.

Still, I would not switch just yet; you have 4-6 weeks anyway…
